Birthing Two Babies at Clinica San Carlos, Denia

I had my first two babies in the uk and although i had good postive experiences i admit perhpas i was lucky.I have heard some terrible stories about the uk birth units...but then we listen too much to stories.
My third baby was born at San Carlos in denia.I had very personal care during the pregnancy which was classed as high risk.I was scanned at every appoinment and saw the same doctor too.I have asisa so it was private. To deliver at San Carlos you have to more than 36 weeks pregnant, before then you are transferred to Alicante or Valencia as you are preterm and baby is high risk.
The labour was pretty straight forward itself but very long at 37 hours established. But i was monitored and had an epidural for most part. The clinic has an oncall anaesthetist for epidurals and an on call peadiatrician. At time of delivery the ob-gynea attends with a midwife as does an aneasthetist and a peadiatrician. So you actually feel very safe. You do deliver the baby in a special theatre on a delivery couch but at the time you dont really care. The main part of labour is spent in your own room with the midwife.so its very private which is great.
My first baby was born after a very long first stage 37 hours but a very short second stage lasting only 3 mins.He was a whopping 3.8kgs and was given a clean bill of health by the pead only minutes after he was born.
My last baby was born after a 4 hour labour and we nearly didnt make it to the delivery room she came so fast. She was 3.700 and nearly a month early.
My experiences of giving birth in Spain has been extremely positive and i would highly recccomend the Clinica San Carlos they were just great but Spanish speaking. But with a minimum of spanish and their limited english you will get by with no problems.
I do understand that there is an english speaking Ob-Gynea doctor in Denia that Delivers babies in San Carlos,so if needs be ill ask my Friend his name.
